Police Detective Sergeant charged for allegedly accepting and soliciting bribes

A Police Detective Sergeant was today (Tuesday) charged by the ICAC for allegedly accepting and soliciting bribes totalling $80,000 and hostess escort services from a pornographic disc shop operator for offering him protection and information on police ra ids.
Leung Chee-kong, 46, will appear in Kowloon City Magistracy at 9:30 am this Thursday (October 26) on five counts of public servant accepting an advantage and one of public servant soliciting an advantage, contrary to Section 4(2)(a) of the Prevention of B ribery Ordinance.
Two of the charges allege that Leung had accepted two sums of $30,000 and $10,000 from a pornographic disc shop operator as rewards for treating the latter in a manner contrary to his duty as a police officer at some future time.
Three other charges allege Leung of having accepted $20,000 and hostess escort services from the operator as rewards for providing him with information about impending police operations against the selling of indecent and/or obscene optical discs.
The remaining charge alleges Leung of soliciting $20,000 from the operator for the same reason.
The alleged bribery offences took place between April and June 2005.
The defendant has been released on ICAC bail, pending his court appearance on Thursday.
