Senior chef of hotel arrested and charged for alleged bribery

A senior chef of a hotel has been today (Wednesday) arrested and charged by the ICAC for allegedly accepting advantages for showing favour to his subordinate in relation to the hotel's business.

Hung Sau-chi, 58, a senior chef of the Peninsula Hotel, will appear in Eastern Magistracy at 9:30 am on Friday (November 17) on one count of agent accepting an advantage, contrary to Section 9(1)(b) of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance.

The charge alleges that between January 1996 and May 2004, Hung had accepted advantages consisting of prostitution services from his subordinate as rewards for showing favour to the latter in relation to the hotel's business.

The defendant has been released on ICAC bail, pending his court appearance on Friday.
