Senior US customs officers visit ICAC to enhance co-operation and liaison

ICAC Commissioner, Mr Timothy Tong Hin-ming, earlier met with two senior officers of the US customs authorities to enhance mutual co-operation and liaison.
"We shall continue to step up liaison and co-operation in the fight against corruption and related crimes," Mr Tong said at a meeting on Thursday with Mr Leo Lin, Attache of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Mr Richard Powell, Senior Representat ive of US Customs and Border Protection.
In recent years, the ICAC has obtained operational assistance from the US customs in relation to a number of corruption related cases in Hong Kong, including the deployment of a US officer to infiltrate into an international criminal syndicate and arrangi ng a US witness to testify in a trial in Hong Kong.
