Noodle chef charged for alleged bribery over flour supply

A noodle factory chef was today (Thursday) charged by the ICAC for allegedly accepting advantages from a flour supplier for placing purchase orders with the latter.
Mai Jin-yun, 59, noodle chef of Ying Kee Noodles Factory Limited, faces two counts of agent accepting advantages, contrary to Section 9(1)(a) of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance. He will appear in Fanling Magistracy at 9:30 am on Monday (November 26).
The defendant is alleged to have accepted bribe payments from the proprietor of a flour supplier as a reward for placing purchase orders with the latter between February 2002 and March 2007.
ICAC enquiries revealed that the defendant had allegedly received monthly bribe payments, totalling about $198,000, from the above supplier during the aforementioned period.
The defendant has been granted ICAC bail, pending his court appearance next Monday.
