2008-1-29
The ICAC has charged a director of a property agency for alleged conspiracy to defraud the developer of a residential estate in Homantin of commissions totalling over $650,000 in relation to the sale of flats at the residential estate.
Lau Hin-shing, 42, a director of Kingswood Property Agency Limited (Kingswood), will appear in Kowloon City Magistracy at 9:30 am on Thursday (January 31) on one count of conspiracy to defraud.
The case arose from a corruption complaint. Subsequent ICAC enquiries revealed the alleged fraud offence.
The charge alleges that between late 2003 and June 7, 2004, the defendant had conspired with other persons to defraud the developer of the residential estate known as Parc Palais.
The defendant is alleged to have falsely represented that the purchasers of certain flats of the residential estate were introduced by him, thereby causing the developer to pay commissions to Kingswood.
ICAC enquiries revealed that the commissions allegedly defrauded by the defendant amounted to $653,087.
The defendant has been released on ICAC bail, pending his court appearance on Thursday.
