Duo charged for alleged bribery over chicken and duck supplies

The ICAC has charged two directors of a company for allegedly offering advantages to various purchasing staff of a hotel and three clubs in relation to chicken and duck supplies.
Yeung Kwai-kuen, 60, and his elder brother Yeung Kwai-nam, 72, both directors of View Well Development Limited trading as Ho King Chicken and Duck Shop (Ho King), face three joint charges of offering an advantage to an agent, contrary to Section 9(2)(a) o f the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance. Yeung Kwai-kuen alone further faces three similar offences.
The defendants will appear in Eastern Magistracy at 9:30 am tomorrow (Friday) for plea.
Three of the charges allege that the defendants had offered a total of about $15,000 to a purchase and store manager of Rosedale on the Park as rewards for placing orders with Ho King, Ho Wan Roasted Meat & Restaurant and Yuet Hing Meat Company.
Yeung Kwai-kuen is also alleged of conspiring with another person to offer a sum of money every two to four months, equivalent to 2-3% of the sales volume of Ho King, to an employee of the purchasing department of The American Club as a reward for placing orders with Ho King.
The remaining two charges allege that Yeung Kwai-kuen had offered several hundred dollars and several thousand dollars respectively to an employee of the purchasing department of The Hong Kong Football Club and an employee of the purchasing department of The Hong Kong Jockey Club for a similar reason.
The alleged offences took place between July 2005 and April 2007.
The defendants have been released on ICAC bail, pending their court appearance tomorrow.
