ICAC statement

2009-2-3

ICAC Commissioner Dr Timothy Tong Hin-ming today (Tuesday) issued the following statement:

“We learn with sorrows that former ICAC Commissioner, Sir Donald Luddington, has passed away. On behalf of all ICAC colleagues, I would like to express our deepest condolences to his family.

“Sir Donald, the second Commissioner, led our organisation from July 1978 to November 1980. Amongst his many contributions, he is remembered for guiding the Commission after the ‘'91partial amnesty’ that came into effect in November 1977. Under his leadership, graft fighters recharged themselves and won further public confidence in the Commission through intensified efforts against the corrupt.

“We would like to pay tribute to Sir Donald for his significant contribution to the long term development of the ICAC.

“Colleagues who had worked with him would remember Sir Donald as an inspiring and caring leader.”
