CityU associate professor and three others face ICAC charges

An associate professor of the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and three other persons were today (Wednesday) charged by the ICAC for alleged conspiracy to defraud the university in relation to a $1 million information technology (IT) service contract .
Vivienne Wee, 57, an associate professor of CityU; Gregory Wee Kuan-wei, 45, computer programmer; Ng Ngar-sheung, 38, director cum shareholder of Locus Interactive Ltd.; and Pau Hang-chuen, 35, proprietor of Sparkland Production, face a total of two count s of conspiracy to defraud. Pau was further charged with four counts of dealing with crime proceeds.
The defendants will appear at Eastern Magistracy at 9:30 am on Monday (May 4).
Vivienne Wee, Gregory Wee and Ng were jointly charged with one count of conspiring together and with Pau to defraud CityU by concealing from the university the fact that a company in which Vivienne Wee had a conflict of interest was the actual service pro vider of an IT service contract.
Ng and Pau face a similar joint charge of conspiracy to defraud CityU.
Pau further faces four counts of dealing with a total of $462,665, knowing that the sums represented the proceeds of an indictable offence.
The defendants have been granted ICAC bail, pending their court appearance on Monday.
