Duo charged for alleged bribery over sale of moulding machines

A former sales manager of a moulding machine manufacturer and a marketing manager of a trading company were today (Monday) charged by the ICAC with accepting and offering over $246,000 in illegal rebates respectively in relation to the sale of plastic inj ection moulding machines.
Chan Kam-ting, 44, former sales manager of Foshan Shunde Chen De Plastics Machinery Co., Ltd. (Chen De), faces three counts of agent accepting an advantage, contrary to Section 9(1)(a) of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (POBO).
Co-defendant Yeung Cheung-wing, 46, marketing manager of Createx Engineering Company Limited (Createx), faces three counts of offering an advantage to an agent, contrary to Section 9(2)(a) of POBO. Createx, a trading company, is a distributing agent of C hen De.
The duo will appear in Fanling Magistracy at 9:30 am on Wednesday (May 27) for mention.
Three of the charges allege that between July 2005 and August 2006, Chan accepted a total of over $246,000 from Createx as rewards for selling goods to Createx.
The remaining three charges allege Yeung of having offered the same amount of money to Chan for the same reason.
The defendants have been released on ICAC bail, pending their court appearance on Wednesday.
