Trio charged with bribery over transportation orders

A former supervisor of an air freight company and two proprietors of two logistics companies were today (Friday) charged by the ICAC for alleged bribery in relation to the awarding of transportation orders.

Chan Fung, 30, former air freight supervisor of Clare Freight International (H.K.) Limited, faces two counts of agent accepting advantages, contrary to Section 9(1)(a) of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (POBO).

Co-defendants Leung Po-ming, 46, proprietor of City International Airfreight Limited (City International), and Barry Yau To-tak, 44, proprietor of Skywalker Logistics Company Limited (Skywalker Logistics), each faces one count of offering advantages to an agent, contrary to Section 9(2)(a) of POBO.

The defendants will appear in Eastern Magistracy at 9:30 am next Tuesday (June 2) for transfer to the District Court for plea.

Chan is alleged of having accepted sums of cash from Leung and Yau between September 2006 and October 2008 as rewards for placing or continuing to place orders with City International and Skywalker Logistics respectively.

ICAC enquiries revealed that during the said period, the alleged bribe payments accepted by Chan were estimated to be over $370,000.

Leung and Yau each faces one count of having offered sums of cash to Chan for the same reason.

The defendants have been released on ICAC bail, pending their court appearance on Tuesday.
