Former marketing staff of wine distributor charged with accepting bribes over renovation contracts

A former marketing manager of a wine distributor has been charged by the ICAC for allegedly accepting over $380,000 in bribes for awarding renovation contracts to a design company.
Ronald Cheung Tak-shing, 42, former marketing manager of Riche Monde Limited, now known as Moet Hennessy Diageo Hong Kong Limited (MHD), faces 11 counts of agent accepting an advantage, contrary to Section 9(1)(a) of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance.
Cheung will appear in Eastern Magistracy tomorrow (Friday) at 9:30 am, pending transfer to the District Court.
The charges allege that the defendant, on 11 occasions between August 2004 and May 2007, accepted bribes ranging from $10,000 to $60,000 from the sole proprietor of Stardust Design & Contracting Company Limited for awarding renovation contracts of designa ted areas in various karaoke boxes, bars and exhibition venues for the promotion of wine distributed by MHD.
It is alleged that the total bribes amounted to $388,000.
MHD has rendered full assistance to the ICAC in its investigation.
The defendant has been granted ICAC bail, pending his court appearance tomorrow.
