HK and Macao anti-graft chiefs meet to enhance cooperation

The heads of the anti-corruption agencies in Hong Kong and Macao updated each other on the latest graft fighting work in their respective jurisdictions and explored closer cooperation between the two places.

Received by ICAC Commissioner Dr Timothy Tong Hin-ming, Commissioner of the Macao Commission Against Corruption (CCAC), Dr Fong Man-chong, visited the ICAC late last week (July 30) for the first time.

Both shared the view that apart from operational cooperation, partnership in promoting corruption prevention and probity education should be further strengthened given the fast growing interactions within the Pearl River Delta region.

Dr Fong also noted that increased exchanges and experience sharing between Hong Kong and Macao graft fighters were expected following the extension of Macao’s anti-corruption laws to the private sector earlier this year.

Accompanying Dr Fong during the visit were CCAC Deputy Commissioner Ms Tou Wai-fong, Chief of Cabinet Mr Sam Vai-keong, Advisors Mr Kuan Kun-hong and Mr Chong Vai-ip, and Head of Community Relations Ms Cristina Tang Shu-qing.

ICAC directorate officers meeting the delegation were Acting Head of Operations Mr Ryan Wong Sai-chiu, Director of Community Relations Ms Julie Mu Fee-man, Director of Corruption Prevention Mrs Jean Au Yeung Lui Miu-kwan, Assistant Director of Community R elations Mr Jeremy Lo Kwok-chung and Acting Assistant Director of Operations Mr Daniel So Ping-hung.

The delegation was also given a guided tour to the ICAC Exhibition Hall and other facilities at the ICAC Building.
