ICAC conducts household opinion survey from mid October

2010-10-11

The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) will conduct a household opinion survey from Wednesday (October 13) to gauge views of the public on the corruption situation in Hong Kong as well as their opinion on the work of the anti-corruption agen cy.

The ICAC has engaged independent pollsters to conduct the opinion survey on an annual basis. To facilitate the collation of more in-depth views from the public, this year’s survey will be carried out through household face-to-face interviews to be made by a research company selected through open tendering.

A total of 1,500 respondents aged between 15 and 64 will be selected through random sampling. They will receive a notification letter for household interviews issued by the ICAC.

“The survey results will help us better grasp the views of the public and understand their needs, serving as useful reference for the ICAC in formulating its work strategies. We hope this exercise will be supported by the public,” said an ICAC spokesman.

Interviewers will visit the selected households between 10 am and 10 pm from October 13 to December 24. All interviewers will bear an authorisation letter issued by the ICAC and a staff identity card issued by the research company. Each interview will t ake about 20 minutes.

More information about the survey is available on the ICAC’s website ( http://www.icac.org.hk ). For enquiries, the public may call the ICAC at 9521 1657.
