ICAC Commissioner visits Macao counterparts

The ICAC Commissioner Mr Simon Peh Yun-lu today (Wednesday) led a delegation to visit Macao Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) and the Macao Public Prosecutions Office to exchange the latest development of anti-corruption work in the two places.

Mr Peh called on CCAC Commissioner Mr Fong Man-chong and Procurator-General of Macau’s Prosecution Office Mr Ho Chio-meng respectively this afternoon. He noted that Hong Kong and Macao has maintained a close relationship in terms of mutual case assistance, as well as systemic prevention and probity education.

Later this year, the Hong Kong ICAC, Macao CCAC and the Ministry of Supervision in the Mainland will jointly organise the sixth thematic seminar in Macao, featuring graft prevention in procurement procedures. In addition, the ICAC, CCAC and the Guangdong Provincial People’s Procuratorate will jointly launch a corruption prevention guidebook for small and medium enterprises operating cross-boundary business.

At today’s meetings, Mr Peh also invited Mr Fong and Mr Ho to visit the ICAC in order to further consolidate cooperation.

Mr Peh will attend a CCAC seminar tomorrow (Thursday) which marks the 20th anniversary of Macao’s anti-graft work. At the seminar, ICAC’s Acting Director of Corruption Prevention Mr Mok Wah-hoi will deliver a keynote speech on corruption prevention for private entities.

ICAC officials accompanying Mr Peh on his visit include Mr Raymond Ng Kwok-ming, Assistant Director of Community Relations, and Mr Ken Ho King-yeung, Principal Investigator of the Operations Department.

The delegation will conclude its visit and return to Hong Kong tomorrow.
