Members of the public are encouraged to give their views on the problem of corruption in Hong Kong and anti-corruption efforts in a household opinion survey to be conducted by an independent pollster commissioned by the ICAC.

The survey, to run from Monday (October 8) to November 30, will interview a total of 1,500 respondents aged between 15 and 64 selected through random sampling. Upon receiving a notification letter issued by the ICAC, selected households can make an appoi ntment with the research company to arrange an interview time most convenient to them.

Interviewers from the survey company will visit the selected households between 10 am and 10 pm to conduct an interview which lasts about 20 minutes. All interviewers will bear an authorisation letter issued by the ICAC and a staff identity card issued b y the research company.

“The ICAC has engaged independent pollsters to conduct opinion surveys over the years to gauge the public’s views on anti-corruption work and their concerns. The exercise has served as useful reference for the ICAC in formulating timely and effective work strategies,” said an ICAC spokesman.

The spokesman also stressed that all information collected from the survey will be used for statistical analysis only. Data of individual questionnaire will be kept strictly confidential and will not be disclosed to any other parties (including other Gov ernment departments). All questionnaires will be destroyed immediately after processing.

More details about the survey are available on the ICAC’s website ( http://www.icac.org.hk ).
