Twenty-one arrested for alleged graft over supply of ice to restaurants

Twenty-one staff members of an ice manufacturing company, which is a subsidiary of a listed company, have been arrested by the ICAC for alleged bribery in relation to the supply of ice packs to restaurants.
Arrested in an operation, which commenced on Monday (November 5), were two supervisors as well as 19 drivers and delivery workers of the company.
The ICAC investigation arose from a corruption complaint.
The drivers and workers were suspected to have sold ice packs to a number of cafes, restaurants and shops, but reported a lower unit price to their principal and pocketed the differences. They also allegedly submitted false records to the company so as t o defraud their principal.
It was suspected that the supervisors had accepted monetary rewards for conniving at the fraudulent activities by their subordinate drivers and workers.
The management of the ice manufacturing company has rendered full assistance to the ICAC during its investigation.
The arrestees have been released on ICAC bail. Enquiries are continuing.
