ICAC Commissioner visits Shenzhen anti-corruption body
2013-1-31
ICAC Commissioner Mr Simon Peh Yun-lu today (Thursday) led a delegation to visit Shenzhen Municipal People's Procuratorate for mutual exchanges in anti-corruption work.
During the visit, Mr Peh met with Mr Bai Xinchao, Chief Prosecutor of Shenzhen Municipal People's Procuratorate, and updated him on Hong Kong's latest corruption situation as well as the Commission’s preventive education efforts.
In recent years, there have been regular exchanges and mutual visits between the ICAC and its Shenzhen counterpart.
In 2009, Mr Bai and other procuratorate officials called on the ICAC to learn about Hong Kong’s strategy in combating graft. They also visited an ICAC Regional Office to study how the Commission promoted integrity in the community.
Mr Peh anticipated that as the Mainland had stepped up its fight against graft, there would be closer cooperation between anti-corruption agencies in the two places.
The ICAC delegation today also visited various facilities of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Procuratorate.
Accompanying Mr Peh on his visit were Ms Julie Mu Fee-man, Director of Community Relations; Mr Ricky Yau Shu-chun, Assistant Director of Operations; Mr Siu Kin-foon, Principal Corruption Prevention Officer; Ms Evalina Yim Hau-wan, Principal Liaison Office r; Mr Daniel So Ping-hung, Chief Staff Officer of the Centre of Anti-Corruption Studies; and Mr Raymond Kong Yim-kwan, Chief Investigator of the Operations Department.
The delegation will conclude its visit and return to Hong Kong tonight.
