ICAC Statement

2014-4-23

The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) today (Wednesday) announced that Mr Cliff Sun, BBS, JP, Honorary President of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, would replace Mr Song Lin as the Chairman of the Ethics Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) until the end of this year, with immediate effect.

In view of a recent announcement made by the Mainland authorities, the ICAC considered that Mr Song Lin would not be suitable to continue to be the Chairman of EDAC. The Commission had followed up the matter with the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association (HKCEA). HKCEA confirmed that Mr Song Lin would no longer serve as EDAC chairman and the association would be represented by its President Mr Feng Hongzhang, as a member of the EDAC.

Member chambers of the EDAC subsequently agreed that Honorary President of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, Mr Cliff Sun, BBS, JP, would take up the chairman’s duties until the end of this year.

According to the committee’s established mechanism, each of the six chambers of commerce will take turns to be the EDAC chairman, with each term lasting two years. The term of the incumbent Chairmanship will last until the end of 2014.
