2014-5-31
About 300 dedicated ICAC Club members were today (Saturday) commended for their voluntary service in various ICAC activities to promote the anti-corruption and probity messages.
Speaking at the ICAC Club’s 17 th anniversary awards presentation ceremony, Chairman of ICAC’s Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Relations, Professor John Leong Chi-yan noted that about 600 ICAC Club members had clocked up over 5,800 hours of voluntary service last year, a two fold of the annual average of 2,000-odd hours in the past and a record high in the ICAC Club’s 17-year history.
Professor Leong also noted that under the “Club Member Involvement Programme”, members were encouraged to organize probity programmes for their own organizations to spread the ICAC message to people around them and enlist their support to the Commission’s work. He also appealed for Club members’ continuous participation in promoting ICAC’s initiatives, and invited them to join hands with the Commission in fostering a culture of probity.
The ICAC Club is a voluntary group set up in 1997 to promote civic participation in anti-corruption work in Hong Kong. It now has over 1,200 members from different strata of the community.
