2018-11-20

A former Assistant District Officer of Sai Kung District Office (SKDO) under the Home Affairs Department (HAD) has been charged by the ICAC today (November 20) with making a false corruption report against his then supervisor.

Peter Kwok Chung-kai, 56, faces one count of making a false report to an ICAC officer, contrary to Section 13B(a) of the ICAC Ordinance.

The defendant will appear at the Kwun Tong Magistracy on Thursday (November 22) for plea.

At the material time, the defendant was a Senior Administrative Officer holding the post of Assistant District Officer at SKDO, reporting to the District Officer.

The charge alleges that on November 29, 2017, the defendant knowingly made to an officer of the ICAC a false report against the then District Officer of SKDO for having accepted advantages from a Project Manager as a reward for permitting the Project Manager to absent herself from work on every Monday and Wednesday mornings in contravention of the terms of her employment contract for non-civil service contract staff (monthly rate).

The HAD has rendered full assistance to the ICAC during its investigation into the case.

The defendant has been released on ICAC bail, pending his court appearance on Thursday.
