2019-4-29

Over 400 volunteers of the ICAC Club who supported the anti-corruption cause by devoting more than 3,700 hours of services last year to promote the core value of probity in the community were commended for their passion and efforts yesterday (April 28).

Officiating at the ICAC Club annual award presentation ceremony, Ms Catalina Chan Yuen-ling, member of ICAC’s Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Relations (CACCR) and convenor of its Preventive Education and Public Engagement Sub-Committee, praised club members for sharing their support to the ICAC by carrying out volunteer services.

Ms Chan also expressed her appreciation for club members who made use of their talents and creativity to help spread probity messages in the community.

Last year, members of the ICAC Club’s Youth Chapter first took part in an Anti-Corruption Walk in the Central and Western District to deepen their understanding of Hong Kong’s anti-graft history and the work of the ICAC.

In the months to come, they would organise similar guided tours for members of the public including new arrivals and ethnic minorities, Ms Chan added.

The ICAC Club is a voluntary group set up by the Community Relations Department in 1997 to promote active civic participation in anti-corruption work and safeguard a fair, stable, prosperous and corruption-free society. The club has over 2,600 members, about 1,400 of them are from the Youth Chapter.

In 2018, over 400 members of the ICAC Club committed themselves to over 3,700 hours of volunteer services under major anti-corruption education and publicity programmes, including the Youth Integrity Fest, an integrity-themed youth art fest held at the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre; ICAC’s participation at the Hong Kong Book Fair; and “All for Integrity” District Projects for the ICAC 45th Anniversary.

Attending the ceremony were ICAC’s Acting Director of Community Relations Mr Ho Wai-chi, Acting Assistant Directors Ms Corinna Wong Kit-mui and Mary Lau Kwok-mei, Regional Officers; and CACCR members namely Ms Bonnie Chan Shum-yue, Mr Wong Wai-kit, Mr Victor Pang Wing-seng and Mr Webster Ng Kam-wah, as well as CACCR co-opted members Ms Eleanor Li Po-yee, Mr Anthony SO Chun-hin and Mr David Chan Tsz-pui.

Over 200 ICAC Club members attend the annual award presentation ceremony.
