About 520 voluntary workers of the ICAC Club were today (Sunday) commended for spending a record high of over 6,400 hours in total on active participation in organising and promoting ICAC’s probity programmes last year.
“Each club member is serving as an ambassador, who helps promote integrity through participation in anti-corruption programmes, in their daily life or at work,” said Professor John Leong Chi-yan, Chairman of ICAC’s Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Relations, at the ICAC Club anniversary awards presentation ceremony.
Professor Leong said last year, many young club members actively participated in planning and organising various activities, including a number of district events to disseminate anti-corruption messages, and publishing the club’s newsletter.
He called on more young people to join the ICAC Club where they could contribute more to various anti-corruption activities and display their creativity and vitality.
Last year, about 520 club members clocked up over 6,400 hours of voluntary service, hitting a new record compared to 5,800 hours in the previous year. In addition, a record high of 118 members received long-service awards and other major awards for their service in the club.
The ICAC Club is a voluntary group set up in 1997 to promote civic participation in anti-corruption activities. It now has over 1,300 members from different strata of the community.
