A former manager of a cosmetic laser treatment centre appeared in the Kowloon City Magistracy today (April 24) after being charged by the ICAC for stealing treatment fees paid by clients totalling about $110,000.

Ng Wing-han, 36, former shop manager employed by New Town Medical Group (New Town Medical), faced eight charges – seven of theft, contrary to Section 9 of the Theft Ordinance; and one of possession of false instruments, contrary to Section 75(2) of the Crimes Ordinance.

No plea was taken today. Acting Principal Magistrate Ms Ada Yim Shun-yee adjourned the case to May 22 for plea.

The case arose from a corruption complaint. Subsequent ICAC enquiries revealed the above alleged offences.

At the material time, the defendant was employed by New Town Medical and posted to Skinergy Skin Centre (Skinergy) as a shop manager. She was the only staff member of Skinergy responsible for its daily operation, including managing records of clients, promoting packages and performing laser treatments on clients.

The theft charges alleged that between March 1, 2015 and October 19, 2016, the defendant stole laser treatment fees, totalling about $110,000, paid by two clients of Skinergy.

The remaining charge alleged that on August 17, 2017, the defendant, without lawful authority or excuse, had in her custody the consent forms for laser treatment of four other clients of Skinergy, which were and which she knew or believed to be false.

The defendant was granted cash bail of $1,000. She was ordered not to directly or indirectly interfere with prosecution witnesses.

New Town Medical had rendered full assistance to the ICAC during its investigation into the case.

The prosecution was today represented by Senior Public Prosecutor Rosa Lo, assisted by ICAC officer Wesley Ho.
