The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will host the International Seminar on Financial Investigation on 9 and 10 May 2017 at the ICAC.
With the growing complexity of corruption and other economic crimes involving transactions in the financial markets, global flow of funds and dissipation of assets regardless of geographical boundaries, it is vital that practitioners of anti-corruption and other law enforcement agencies remain at the forefront of global practices in those respects in order to bring the criminals to justice. In broad terms, this can be achieved through upgrading their professional capability and enhancing co-operation with counterparts. From a practical standpoint, the effective utilization of financial investigation vis-à-vis evidence gathering and asset recovery is the key to success.
With the theme of “Cutting the Financial Vein of the Corrupt”, the Seminar therefore focuses on financial investigation and asset recovery. The Seminar aims at providing an opportunity for graft-fighters, other law enforcement officers and stakeholders, particularly those specializing in financial investigation and asset recovery, to exchange experience and discuss practical issues at an advanced level. With this in mind, experienced speakers and eminent experts have been invited to share their experience and insights.
This is an unparalleled opportunity for all of us to update ourselves on financial investigation skills and asset recovery know-hows, learn from each other, and foster effective partnerships. I look forward to welcoming you in Hong Kong.
