Commissioner's Message

You are cordially invited to attend the 6th ICAC Symposium hosted by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region from 11 to 13 May 2015 at the Convention Centre of Hong Kong.

In the past four decades, Hong Kong has evolved from a city plagued by corruption to one of the cleanest cities in the world. Today Hong Kong takes its pride, among other things, in the city’s clean civil service, rule of law, level playing field for businesses and a very high rating by Hong Kong people on probity as a major core value of Hong Kong. But there is no room for complacency because success may change with time. Along with globalisation and technological advancement etc., never before had the fight against corruption been so ridden with tests and challenges. What was once a local investigation may now concern more than one jurisdiction.

Riding on the theme “A Future Without Corruption – One Vision, Multiple Strategies”, the Symposium is designed to provide graft busters and law enforcement officers the platform to exchange and learn from each other the latest strategies and tactics to fight corruption in its totality. It is a platform on which internationally recognised experts in the anti-corruption and related fields will share their wealth of experience, knowledge and insights. Perhaps equally important, it is an opportunity for participants and the organisations they represent to form lasting bonds and allies. This is an invaluable occasion leaders in the anti-corruption field cannot afford to miss.

I look forward to welcoming you in Hong Kong.
