A former site team leader of a sub-contractor of the Third Runway Project of the Hong Kong International Airport (Third Runway Project), charged by the ICAC, was today (July 26) sentenced to seven months’ imprisonment at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts for accepting bribes of over $120,000 from five bar-benders for continuing their employment with the sub-contractor.

A former Project Assistant of the Home Affairs Department (HAD), charged by the ICAC, today (July 26) at the Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts admitted offences under the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (POBO) by using medical certificates containing false information to mislead the HAD that her sick leave was recommended by doctors.

For the first time, veteran graft-fighters in Hong Kong were invited by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to share at the UNODC’s headquarters in Vienna, Austria on how the local anti-corruption agency leveraged the latest technology to effectively crack corruption cases. A Resident Doctor of a public hospital was charged by the ICAC with fraud today (July 19) after it was revealed in the course of a corruption investigation that he allegedly deceived the Hospital Authority (HA) into paying him special honorarium of over $110,000 by making false representations about the extra services he performed on various occasions at another public hospital.

A man was charged by the ICAC yesterday (July 11) for allegedly offering 30 per cent of the profit of a renovation project of a private residential building to the secretary of its incorporated owners (IO) so as to assist a contractor to obtain the contract worth over $70 million.
