Seven proprietors of shell companies have been charged by the ICAC with conspiring to launder over $1 billion in crime proceeds.

The former head of research department of a securities company, charged by the ICAC, was today (Wednesday) sentenced to one year’s imprisonment at the Eastern Magistracy after being convicted of accepting a bribe of $100,000 for writing a favourable valuation report on a listed company.

Two former wealth management managers of a bank have been charged by the ICAC with offering up to $215,000 in bribes to a former associate relationship manager of the bank for referring clients, while the trio is also accused of deceiving commissions from the bank by fraudulent means.

The proprietor and a former merchandiser of a trading company, charged by the ICAC, were today (Monday) sentenced to jail terms up to 28 months at the District Court for deceiving loans totalling over $3.3 million from a bank and laundering those crime proceeds respectively.
