A registered voter has been charged by the ICAC today (Monday) for allegedly committing voting offences at the 2015 Rural Representative (Resident Representative) Election for Mai Po Tsuen in Yuen Long.

Two former agents of two insurance companies appeared in the Eastern Magistracy today (Thursday) after being charged by the ICAC with fraud by using bogus insurance policies to defraud the companies of commissions and bonuses totalling about $450,000.

An Acting Senior Superintendent of the Customs and Excise Department (C&E) appeared in the Eastern Magistracy this (Tuesday) afternoon after being charged by the ICAC with accepting an unauthorised loan of $280,000 from a Senior Customs Officer.

A subcontractor was today (Monday) sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment at the Kowloon City Magistracy after admitting an ICAC charge of offering a $600,000 bribe to a technical manager of the property management company at a private residential estate for lax supervision over renovation works conducted by the subcontractor.

Two former senior executives of a listed company and an accountant, charged by the ICAC, were today (Thursday) ordered by the Court of Appeal (CA) to serve one year to three years more in jail for bribery and fraud in the acquisition of a Mainland plantation project at $500 million in the wake of a review of their sentences.

The following is a statement made by Mr Simon Peh Yun-lu, Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), upon the passing of Dr Elsie Tu:

A former Police Constable (PC), who was charged by the ICAC, was today (Monday) sentenced to two years’ imprisonment at the District Court for misconduct in public office, perjury and perverting public justice to facilitate an operator of four money lenders in collecting debts from six debtors.

A registered elector, who was charged by the ICAC, admitted at the Kowloon City Magistracy today (Friday) that she had committed a voting offence at the 2011 District Council (DC) Election.

A small house developer and 11 indigenous villagers, who were charged by the ICAC, were today (Friday) sentenced to jail terms up to three years at the District Court for conspiracy to defraud the Lands Department (LD) in relation to the construction of small houses in the New Territories.

Over 100 officers of the ICAC were today (Thursday) awarded commendations in recognition of their outstanding performance, professionalism and devotion to the fight against corruption.
