Geography


Situated on the southeast coast of China, Hong Kong is ideally positioned at the centre of a rapidly developing East Asia. A total area of 1,104 square kilometres includes Hong Kong Island, the Kowloon Peninsula, the New Territories and 262 outlying islands.

With a population of seven million people including half a million non-Chinese, Hong Kong has an interesting mix of cultures and traditions. Chinese and English are the official languages.

The weather in December is generally cool with occasional cold fronts and temperatures ranging from 20°C (68°F) in the daytime to 15°C (59°F) in the evening. The temperature can drop below 10°C (50°F) in urban areas.
