Geography
Situated on the southeast coast of China,
Hong Kong is ideally positioned at the centre of a rapidly developing
East Asia. A total area of 1,104 square kilometres includes Hong
Kong Island, the Kowloon Peninsula, the New Territories and 262
outlying islands.
Population
With a population of seven million people
including half a million non-Chinese, Hong Kong has an interesting
mix of cultures and traditions. Chinese and English are the official
languages.
Transport
Hong Kong is a compact city. Whether visiting
tourist attractions or shopping, a wide variety of affordable
public transport including underground railways, trams, buses,
ferries and taxis offers an enjoyable experience.
Tourism - City of Life
Hong Kong is one of the most popular city
destinations in Asia. In 2008, about 29.5 million visitors enjoyed
Hong Kong's hospitality. A diversity of travel experiences awaits
the visitors with something for everyone, including a unique cultural
heritage, temples, monasteries, museums, walled villages, countryside
walks, theme parks, shopping and numerous markets.

Hong Kong has a world of exquisite, mouth-watering
dining options, from an exotic fusion of Eastern and Western flavours,
to fine dining or casual family-style meals. The Chinese "Dim

Hong Kong in December
The weather in December is generally cool
with occasional cold fronts and temperatures ranging from 20°C
(68°F) in the daytime to 15°C (59°F) in the evening.
The temperature can drop below 10°C (50°F) in urban areas.
