A vice chairman of a sports organisation was yesterday (June 1) charged by the ICAC for allegedly violating the anti-bribery law by disclosing the identities of the subjects being investigated by the Commission and details of such investigation.

A then vice secretary of a taxi association, charged by the ICAC, today (June 1) admitted at the District Court that he had arranged membership payments for several hundred persons to register as members of a professional organisation with false qualifications in relation to a vote rigging and buying scheme for the Information Technology Functional Constituency (ITFC) of the 2016 Legislative Council (LegCo) General Election, following the guilty plea of six co-defendants.

An Inspector of the Customs and Excise Department (C&E), charged by the ICAC, was today (June 1) sentenced to three weeks’ imprisonment at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts for soliciting an unauthorised loan of $50,000 from a subordinating Customs Officer and accepting the sum from a friend of the latter.

A then corporate affairs director and a then clerk of a taxi association, charged by the ICAC, admitted at the District Court today (May 31) their roles in a vote buying and rigging scheme for about 240 persons to register as members of a professional organisation with false qualifications, facilitating them to vote for a particular candidate in the Information Technology Functional Constituency (ITFC) at the 2016 Legislative Council (LegCo) General Election.

Two then volunteers of a resident association in Sham Shui Po, charged by the ICAC, were today (May 26) both sentenced to 8 months’ imprisonment at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts for offering “lucky bags” to induce fellow residents to vote for a particular candidate at the 2018 Legislative Council (LegCo) By-election.

A then executive committee member of a taxi association and his three relatives, charged by the ICAC, admitted at the District Court their roles in a bribes-for-votes scheme in relation to the Information Technology Functional Constituency (ITFC) of the 2016 Legislative Council (LegCo) General Election.

A property agent, charged by the ICAC, today (May 26) admitted at the Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts that he had offered bribes totalling about $130,000 to his supervisor for procuring three property transactions involving a total transaction price amounted to over $61.5 million.

Three former and serving employees of an airline company have been charged by the ICAC today (May 20) with accepting bribes totalling over HK$98,000 for nominating a woman and her friends as travelling companion to enjoy staff benefits in purchasing air tickets.
