A former Assistant Manager of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) was today (Tuesday) charged by the ICAC for alleged bribery and fraud in relation to compensation over five redevelopment projects of URA.

The Department of Justice, on behalf of the ICAC, has filed a notice of appeal this (Friday) afternoon to the Court of Appeal over the judgement of the Court of First Instance in regard to applications made by Sing Tao Limited and a reporter to set aside ICAC's search warrants.

A former financial controller of a US-based electronic products manufacturer, wanted by the ICAC, was today (Thursday) extradited from the United States of America (USA) to Hong Kong to face prosecution for allegedly accepting bribes totalling $9.6 millio n.

After considering the legal advice from the Department of Justice, the ICAC has decided to lodge an appeal in connection with the judgment over the application of Sing Tao Limited and a reporter to set aside the search warrants.

In response to media enquiries on the outcome of Sing Tao Limited's application, an ICAC spokesman today (Tuesday) said:

A former general manager of a US-based trading company dealing in car accessories, who was extradited from Australia to Hong Kong, was today (Thursday) sentenced to an imprisonment of two years and two months at District Court for accepting illegal rebate s totalling over $940,000.

The ICAC has charged a man for allegedly offering $50,000 to an officer of the Correctional Services Department (CSD) for introducing cigarettes and cash into Lai Sun Correctional Institution.
