The proprietor of a window maintenance contractor, charged by the ICAC, was today (February 9) sentenced to nine weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts for forging two quotation documents of another contractor for a window inspection and maintenance project of a government-aided primary school. The offences were revealed in the course of a corruption investigation by the ICAC.

A security supervisor, charged by the ICAC, was today (February 7) sentenced to five months’ imprisonment at the Shatin Magistrates’ Courts for soliciting bribes of over $10,000 from a subordinate security guard for assisting the latter to get promoted to assistant security supervisor.

A man charged by the ICAC was today (February 6) sentenced at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts after pleading guilty to two charges that he had promoted bookmaking involving illegal bets placed on horse racing totalling over $29,000. The offences were revealed in the course of a corruption investigation by the ICAC.

A registered contractor of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), who was earlier charged by the ICAC with offering a smartphone to and paying tele-communications service fees for a Senior Building Services Engineer of the EMSD, was today (February 3) laid with two additional charges in relation to the offering of two other tele-communications service fees.

An insurance agent was charged by the ICAC yesterday (January 31) following its corruption investigation which revealed that the defendant had allegedly defrauded an insurer of commissions and bonuses totalling about $1.9 million by making false representations that seven clients had taken out various insurance policies.

A former property agent, charged by the ICAC, admitted at the District Court today (January 30) that he had deceived a bank, the Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited (HKMC) and its subsidiary into maintaining to grant a mortgage loan of about $4.9 million to him by making false representations that a residential property was for self-use. The offences were revealed in the course of a corruption investigation by the ICAC.

The ICAC charged two defeated candidates of the 2019 District Council Ordinary Election (2019 DC Election) in separate cases for allegedly failing to lodge an election return as required by the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance (ECICO).

Two of the three former employees of a telecommunications company charged by the ICAC were respectively sentenced to six months’ and six weeks’ imprisonment at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts today (January 19) for soliciting and accepting bribes to disclose personal information and data of about 4,700 customers illegally obtained from the company’s computer systems.
