A frozen meat supplier appeared at the Eastern Magistracy today (Friday) after being charged by the ICAC with offering advantages consisting of food products and red packets to the head chef of a restaurant for maintaining business relationship with it.

A Senior School Development Officer (SSDO) of the Education Bureau (EDB), charged by the ICAC, was today (Tuesday) sentenced at the Kowloon City Magistracy for misconduct in public office in relation to the admission of a student to a secondary school.

A candidate of the 2011 District Council (DC) Election, charged by the ICAC, was today (Monday) fined $15,000 at the Kowloon City Magistracy for publishing an election advertisement which included false claims of support and failed to meet certain requirements.

A Senior Station Officer (SSO) of the Fire Services Department (FSD), charged by the ICAC, was today (Friday) convicted at the Kowloon City Magistracy of perverting public justice by failing to prosecute a case of storing dangerous goods without a licence .

The ICAC is opening up some of its facilities on two consecutive weekends starting from today (February 15) for the public to learn first-hand Hong Kong’s anti-corruption history and the latest initiatives of the Commission.

The ICAC had been in the forefront of the anti-corruption fight and attached great importance to community participation and public support in promoting a culture of probity and business ethics, as well as safeguarding the core value of integrity, said IC AC Commissioner Peh Yun-lu today (February 14).

An applicant, charged by the ICAC, was today (Tuesday) sentenced to one year’s imprisonment at the Eastern Magistracy after being convicted of offering $6,000 to immigration officers in relation to her application for an employment visa under the Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals (ASMTP).

A shareholder of a property agency and a property agent of another property agency, charged by the ICAC, were today (Friday) sent to jail at the Kowloon City Magistracy for respectively offering and accepting over $323,000 in bribes over referral of clients.

A director of a property development company, who was wanted by the ICAC for allegedly offering bribes to a bank officer and laundering crime proceeds, has been arrested in Saipan of the United States (US).

Despite various challenges in the past year, the ICAC remained resolute in the fight against corruption to safeguard the core values of Hong Kong and uphold integrity within the civil service, said Advisory Committee on Corruption (ACOC) Chairman Mr Chow Chung-kong.
