The ICAC has charged a Police Constable for his alleged role in loan-sharking activities and dealing with illegal proceeds.

The public continues to rate the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) as an effective and trustworthy anti-graft agency, according to a poll conducted late last year.

The former chairman, chairman and three other senior executives of Tse Sui Luen Jewellery Company Limited (TSL), charged by the ICAC, were today (Thursday) convicted at the District Court of conspiracies to offer illegal commissions totalling $170 million to employees of travel agencies, embezzlement and tax fraud.

The former Deputy Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data was today (Wednesday) convicted at the District Court of misconduct in public office and using false documents to deceive over $120,000 subsistence allowances.

ICAC Commissioner, Timothy Tong Hin-ming, said the ICAC and Guangdong Provincial People’s Procuratorate (GDPP) would strengthen cooperation in law enforcement as well as the promotion of ethical management among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in light of the increased economic integration of the two places.

The ICAC has arrested 21 persons for alleged bribery, fraud and forgery in relation to fraudulent subscription of pay TV, internet and telephone services involving 400 bogus applications.

A member of the Wanchai District Council (WDC) has been charged by the ICAC for alleged fraud and misconduct in relation to false claims of Operating Expenses Allowance (OEA) from WDC.

Two staff members of the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS), who were arrested by the ICAC in an operation earlier this month, were today (Friday) charged with bribery in relation to renovation contracts of three private residential buildings in Yuen Long.
