In response to numerous enquiries from the media in regard to an arrest operation of the Independent Commission Against Commission, the Commission today (Saturday) confirmed that three police officers were arrested in an operation which commenced on Thursday.

A former production manager of an electric company was today (Friday) sentenced to 10 months' imprisonment at the District Court for dealing with RMB575,000 (HK$542,452) that he received from Mainland suppliers for placing orders with them.

A former financial controller of a Mainland city's window company in Hong Kong was today (Friday) sentenced to three years' imprisonment at the Court of First Instance for a $70 million Letters of Credit (L/C) fraud.

A proprietor of an engineering company was today (Friday) sentenced to one year's imprisonment at District Court for instigating a $160,000 bribery scam for a subcontractor to obtain a renovation contract from the owners' incorporation (OI) of a residenti al building in Mongkok.

The Executive Secretary of the Trust Funds, Temples and Cemeteries Section under the Home Affairs Bureau (HAB) was charged by the ICAC for allegedly accepting bribes totalling $950,000 in relation to maintenance works at temples and cemeteries, and brough t to Eastern Magistracy this (Wednesday) morning.

Seventeen persons, including three staff members of the Trust Funds, Temples and Cemeteries Section (TFTC) under the Home Affairs Bureau (HAB), were arrested by the ICAC for suspected corruption in awarding maintenance contracts in relation to a number of temples and cemeteries.
