Duo jailed for card fraud causing $750,000 losses to banks

An unemployed man was sentenced to four years' imprisonment at District Court today (Friday) for his involvement in a counterfeit credit card scam which caused $750,000 losses to local banks, while his associate was jailed for 16 months.

Customs Officer gets suspended jail term for deceiving loans

A Customs Officer of the Customs and Excise Department (C&E), charged by the ICAC with obtaining loans totalling $115,000 by deception, was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment, suspended for two years, at North Kowloon Court today (Thursday).

The ICAC arrested five police officers for alleged involvement in corruption facilitated criminal activities, including fixing up police investigations and triad activities. One of the criminal investigations involved concerned a Police Constable accused of misusing his service revolver.

A Police Constable was today (Wednesday) sentenced to nine months' imprisonment at Shatin Court for perverting the course of public justice by requesting his colleague to release a suspect arrested for allegedly selling untaxed cigarettes.
