A former Assistant General Manager of the Bank of China (BOC), charged by the ICAC for allegedly accepting over $3.6 million in bribes for granting a $312 million (US$40 million) bank loan to an investment company, appeared in Eastern Court today (Friday) .

In response to press enquiries, an ICAC spokesman today (Friday) said:

A former Assistant General Manager of the Bank of China (BOC) was charged by the ICAC this (Thursday) morning for allegedly accepting over $3.6 million in bribes for granting a $312 million (US$40 million) bank loan to an investment company.

An unemployed man, who was caught while coaching a hotel staff on the use of a device designed for capturing credit card data, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment at South Kowloon Court today (Thursday).

The ICAC has smashed a syndicate which allegedly planned and arranged a spate of motor accidents and swindled about $3.5 million in claims from a number of insurance companies.
