In connection with an investigation into a syndicate which allegedly supplied “ scapegoats ” in hawker cases, the ICAC today (Wednesday) arrested one more hawker control grade officer.

The ICAC has smashed a syndicate which allegedly supplied itinerant hawker licence holders to substitute unlicenced hawkers for arrests and prosecutions with the connivance of a number of hawker control grade officers.

A man, who allegedly set up a "shelf company" for defrauding $6 million Letters of Credit (L/C) facilities based on bogus business transactions, appeared at Eastern Court today.

A former Assistant General Manager of the Bank of China (BOC) was charged by the ICAC this (Thursday) morning for allegedly accepting over $3.6 million in bribes for granting a $312 million (US$40 million) bank loan to an investment company.
