Three site team leaders and two construction workers of a sub-contractor of the Third Runway Project of the Hong Kong International Airport (Third Runway Project) were charged by the ICAC with soliciting and accepting illegal rebates totalling over $200,000 from seven scaffolding, carpentry and bar-bending workers for securing their employment with the sub-contractor. Arising from the relevant investigation, the Commission has so far charged a total of 13 persons.

A property agency director, charged by the ICAC, was today (August 31) sentenced to six and a half years’ imprisonment at the District Court after being convicted of deceiving a couple into paying $15 million more in the confirmatory sale of a shopping centre unit and an industrial building property purchased by the couple.

A former insurance agent was charged by the ICAC today (August 30) with defrauding an insurer of commissions and a bonus totalling over $250,000 by making false representations that two clients had taken out insurance policies from the insurer.

Two former brokers of a securities firm, charged by the ICAC, were today (August 29) convicted at the District Court of offering bribes of about $70,000 and gifts worth over $12,500 to staff of a computer company for arranging the provision of services to the duo’s clients by a computer trading programme.

A man, charged by the ICAC, was today (August 26) sentenced to two months’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts after admitting that he had reposted on his social media page a post which incited others to cast blank votes at the 2021 Legislative Council General Election (2021 LegCo Election) during the election period.

A former branch manager of a currency exchange company, charged by the ICAC, was today (August 26) sentenced to four months’ imprisonment at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts for using remittance application forms containing false information to deceive the company that a customer had settled the remittance amount in full before remitting a total of over $7.5 million.

An Artisan of the Water Supplies Department (WSD) was charged by the ICAC today (August 22) with deceiving a former colleague of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) into lending him $20,000, and making false representations that he had repaid over $15,500 to the former colleague.

A spokesperson for the ICAC noted that the ICAC Commissioner Mr Woo Ying-ming has today (August 21) tested positive in a COVID-19 nucleic acid test. He is currently awaiting isolation arrangement from the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health.

A senior executive of the Airport Authority Hong Kong (Airport Authority) and a proprietor of a sub-contractor arrested by the ICAC for suspected corruption in relation to the Three-Runway System Project of the Hong Kong International Airport (3RS Project) were last night (August 18) respectively charged with accepting and offering bribes totalling about HK$3.8 million.

A Woman Police Constable, charged by the ICAC, was today (August 19) sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts for soliciting an unauthorised loan of $1 million from a complainant of a theft case and accepted a loan of $60,000 from an arrestee of a fighting case.
