A former manager of a mortgage broker, charged by the ICAC, was today (January 4) convicted at the Eastern Magistracy of having offered an illegal commission of over $5,700 to a then property agent of a property agency for referring its client for mortgage services.

A housewife, charged by the ICAC, was today (January 3) sentenced to eight weeks’ imprisonment at the Fanling Magistracy for defrauding the Housing Department (HD) by subletting a public rental housing (PRH) unit without paying a premium of over $1.8 million to the department.

A regional director of an insurance company appeared in the Eastern Magistracy today (December 22) after being charged by the ICAC with defrauding the company of about $30,000 in commissions by falsely representing that her husband was the handling agent of two insurance policies.

A former manager of a bank, currently serving an 18-months jail for bribery and fraud, was today (December 14) ordered to serve an additional eight and a half months in jail at the District Court for having defrauded the bank of commissions in a separate trial arising from the same ICAC investigation.

A freelance agent of three companies has been charged by the ICAC with offering illegal commissions totalling over $4.9 million to a then manager of a toy manufacturing firm to secure business.

In response to media enquiries, an ICAC spokesperson today (December 12) confirmed that 29 serving and former employees of five financial institutions, including four banks, were arrested for alleged bribery to divulge confidential customer information for touting personal loan business.
