Over 200 citizens were today (Sunday) commended for their dedicated voluntary services in organising and promoting ICAC’s probity programmes.

Two officers of the Correctional Services Department (CSD), charged by the ICAC, were today (Tuesday) convicted at the District Court of bribery and attempted fraud in deceiving $530,000 from an inmate and her friend.

A man, charged by the ICAC, was today (Tuesday) sentenced to 15 months’ imprisonment at the District Court for conspiracy for a policeman to solicit a bribe of $13,000 for divulging information on the investigation of a murder case.

An unemployed man, charged by the ICAC, was today (Monday) sentenced to five years’ imprisonment at the District Court for perversion by inciting an attacker, who threw corrosive acid onto the daughter and nephew of a former district councillor, not to give evidence against the instigator of the attack.

ICAC Commissioner Dr Timothy Tong Hin-ming today (Friday) told an international conference that closer cooperation and specific coordinated actions amongst jurisdictions was vital for the global fight against corruption, which went hand in hand with organ ised crimes nowadays.

A former Senior Relationship Manager of DBS Bank (HK) Limited (DBS), charged by the ICAC, was today (Friday) sentenced to 26 months’ imprisonment at the District Court for accepting bribes totalling $1.3 million from a client for handling the latter’s accounts with DBS.

A former investment representative of a securities firm, charged by the ICAC, was today (Thursday) convicted at the District Court of accepting over $1.1 million in bribes from a businessman for assisting the latter in selling 50 million shares of a liste d company.

The ICAC would continue to vigorously enforce the law across the board and remain vibrant, determined, focused and unbiased in the fight against corruption in a changing world, said ICAC Commissioner Dr Timothy Tong Hin-ming today (Wednesday).

In response to media enquiries, an ICAC spokesman today (Friday) confirmed that a senior member of a listed company in Hong Kong was yesterday arrested in relation to the corruption case involving two senior executives of the listed company and a former p rincipal official of the Hong Kong Government.
