A man charged by the ICAC today (May 10) admitted at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts that he had bribed a nurse of a Community Vaccination Centre (CVC) with $1,000 for obtaining a vaccination record without inoculating the COVID-19 vaccine.

Three parents and a merchant were charged by the ICAC yesterday (May 8) for allegedly offering bribes totalling $340,000 to a then administrator of an international kindergarten for assisting in the admission of four children to K1 class of the kindergarten. The then administrator and 10 parents had already been charged with bribery by the ICAC.

A former bar-bending site team leader of a sub-contractor of the Third Runway Project of the Hong Kong International Airport (Third Runway Project), charged by the ICAC, was today (May 9) sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment after admitting at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts that he had accepted bribes from two workers for continuing their employment with the sub-contractor.

A former bank manager, charged by the ICAC, was today (May 5) sentenced to four weeks’ imprisonment at the Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Courts for bribing a colleague for referring residential mortgage loan clients of a subsidiary of the bank to a financial intermediary for arranging mortgage refinancing from other banks or financial institutions.

To promote integrity management and a probity culture in the construction industry, the ICAC has teamed up with the Development Bureau (DevB) and the Construction Industry Council (CIC) today (May 4) in launching the Building a Clean and Fair Construction Industry Through Collaboration Anti-Corruption Summit and Commitment to Action Agenda.

A then bank manager, charged by the ICAC, today (May 4) admitted at the District Court that he had accepted bribes from various intermediary company representatives for assisting non-domestic clients to open personal and corporate accounts with a local bank, and used copies of false instruments to falsely represent that the clients were in Hong Kong when they made account opening applications.

In the course of a corruption investigation by the ICAC, it was revealed that a then property officer of a property management company and a renovation contractor allegedly conspired together to deceive the Incorporated Owners (IO) of a private residential building in To Kwa Wan into awarding a water pipe replacement project to the contractor by using false quotations. The duo were charged yesterday (May 3).

A former Project Assistant of the Home Affairs Department (HAD) today (May 3) appeared at the Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts after being charged by the ICAC with offences under the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (POBO) for allegedly using medical certificates containing false information to mislead the HAD that her sick leave was recommended by doctors.

A former site team leader of a sub-contractor of the Third Runway Project of the Hong Kong International Airport (Third Runway Project), charged by the ICAC, today (May 2) admitted at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts that he had conspired with another site team leader to accept bribes of about $230,000 from 29 riggers for securing their employment with the sub-contractor.

The China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) of Hong Kong recently held a high-level meeting on enforcement cooperation. At the invitation of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong, a delegation, headed by CSRC Chief Enforcement Officer and Director-General of Enforcement Bureau Mr Luo Zifa and accompanied by representatives from the Enforcement Division of the SFC, met with Deputy Commissioner and Head of Operations of the ICAC Mr Ricky Yau Shu-chun as well as other senior officers of the Operations Department.
