A Works Supervisor of the Housing Department (HD), charged by the ICAC, today (April 28) admitted at the Shatin Magistrates’ Courts that he had solicited and accepted bribes and unauthorised loans totalling over $90,000 from six staff of three sub-contractors of a public housing construction site in Tai Po over works inspection.

A former insurance agent, charged by the ICAC, was today (April 28) sentenced to 11 months’ imprisonment after admitting at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts that he had defrauded an insurer of commissions totalling about $1.5 million by making false representations that 20 clients had taken out various insurance policies. The offences were revealed in the course of a corruption investigation by the Commission.

A mortgage loan applicant, charged by the ICAC, was today (April 28) sentenced to 10 months’ imprisonment at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts for having deceived a financial services company into granting him a mortgage loan and a decoration loan totalling about $3.9 million by making false representations about his occupation and salary. The illegal activities were revealed in the course of a corruption investigation.

A woman was charged by the ICAC yesterday (April 26) for allegedly sharing to various social media groups a post of a former District Councillor which incited others not to vote at the 2021 Legislative Council General Election (2021 LegCo Election) during the election period. A warrant has been issued by a Magistrate for the arrest of the former District Councillor.

A director of a trading company was charged by the ICAC yesterday (April 26) for allegedly conspiring with a candidate of the 2020 Legislative Council General Election (2020 LegCo Election) for the Hong Kong Island Geographical Constituency to deceive the Registration and Electoral Office (REO) into reimbursing election expenses totalling about $390,000 by making a false representation that his company had provided design and shooting services to the candidate.

A former employee of an investment firm, charged by the ICAC, was today (April 27) convicted at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts of conspiring with two proprietors of a garage to accept bribes for awarding vehicle maintenance orders of the firm to the garage.

About 40 representatives of overseas anti-corruption agencies (ACAs) met in Hong Kong today (April 26) for the 4th Executive Committee (ExCo) meeting of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) to discuss future plans and initiatives for international anti-corruption cooperation.

Two former site team leaders of a sub-contractor of the Third Runway Project of the Hong Kong International Airport (Third Runway Project) were charged by the ICAC today (April 19) with accepting illegal rebates totalling about $100,000 from five bar-benders for continuing their employment with the sub-contractor.
