The ICAC today (October 12) charged a former head of the human resources department of an information technology company for soliciting bribes from three job applicants for assisting them to obtain a higher monthly salary.

A Housing Officer of the Housing Department (HD) was charged by the ICAC today (October 12) for allegedly handling two public housing unit transfer applications by using a document containing a false approval in breach of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (POBO), and forging a memo issued by the Social Welfare Department (SWD) to cover up his delays in handling the applications.

A former insurance agent was charged by the ICAC, today (October 11) with defrauding an insurer of commissions totalling about $750,000 by making false representations in five insurance policy applications about the occupation and monthly income of the applicants or the relevant handling agent.

More than 20 members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) today (October 10) visited the ICAC Headquarters to learn first-hand the Commission’s latest initiatives and exchange views on Hong Kong’s anti-corruption work.

A Magistrate issued a warrant for the arrest of a former Adjunct Associate Professor of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), who is wanted by the ICAC for allegedly conspiring with two others, charged earlier, to conceal his interest in two suppliers in relation to various procurements that involved payments totalling about $4 million.

A former insurance agent, charged by the ICAC, today (October 10) admitted at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts he had conspired with another person to deceive a button manufacturer into renewing its products liability insurance policy on several occasions at inflated annual premiums involving a total of about $240,000.

An Artisan of the Water Supplies Department (WSD), charged by the ICAC, was today (October 10) sentenced at the Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Courts for deceiving a former colleague of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) into lending him $20,000, and making false representations that he had repaid over $15,500 to the former colleague. The illegal activities were revealed in the course of a corruption investigation.

One serving and seven then Principal Hawker Control Officers (PHCOs) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) were charged by the ICAC today (October 6) with misconduct in public office (MIPO) by showing preferential treatments to certain candidates of the 2019 Recruitment of Assistant Hawker Control Officer (AHCO Recruitment 2019) and failing to follow the civil servants appointment policy.

An estate agent, charged by the ICAC, was today (September 30) sentenced to three and a half months in jail after admitting at the Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts that he had solicited a “tea money” of $9,000 from a flat owner for negotiating a higher selling price of the latter’s residential property at $4.568 million.

A mortgage loan applicant, charged by the ICAC, today (September 29) admitted at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts that she had deceived a financial services company into granting her a mortgage loan of $1.7 million by making false representations about her occupation and salary. The illegal activities were revealed in the course of a corruption investigation.
