A candidate of the executive committee election of the 2011 Sheung Shui District Rural Committee (RC), charged by the ICAC, was today (Friday) convicted at Fanling Magistracy of offering a bribe of $130,000 to a village representative (VR) so as to induce the latter to vote for him at the election.

The ICAC has produced a practical guide to help supermarkets and chain stores prevent corruption and malpractices arising from the sales management of goods in high demand, such as baby milk powder, smart phones and tablet computers.

A football player, who was earlier arrested in a corruption investigation, has been today (Thursday) charged by the ICAC for alleged bribery in fixing a football match.

In response to media enquiries, an ICAC spokesman today (Wednesday) confirmed that a football player of the Hong Kong Youth Representative Team was arrested for alleged corruption in attempting to fix last night’s (November 15) match against the Russian National Youth Team at the Mong Kok Stadium.

Two staff members of an electrical appliances retailer have been today (Thursday) charged by the ICAC for allegedly using false sales receipts to deceive their company in relation to the sale of smart phones.

In an operation codenamed “ Kingsfield ” mounted over the past two days, the ICAC has arrested 33 persons for alleged bribery in relation to the roadworthiness examination of private vehicles.

The ICAC today (Tuesday) started giving out information booklets to candidates running for the Election Committee (EC) Subsector Elections as well as their agents as part of its education and publicity campaign to promote clean and fair elections.
