A former retained jockey of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, charged by the ICAC for his alleged involvement in a tips-for-bets bribery scam, appeared in Eastern Magistracy today (Friday).

A jockey formerly retained by the Hong Kong Jockey Club was today (Thursday) charged by the ICAC for his alleged involvement in a tips-for-bets bribery scam.

As a matter of general policy, the ICAC will not comment on individual cases. However, in the past two days, some newspapers, in their reports on the suicide of a police officer, carried totally unfounded and yet very serious allegations against the ICAC , in particular the allegation that the ICAC had used improper tactics to threaten people involved in its investigations. This allegation was mere fabrication.

A former employee of the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited (BOC Hong Kong), who was responsible for distributing new banknotes from the bank's vault to various branches, was today (Friday) charged by the ICAC for allegedly bribing his colleagues for retri eving and retaining new banknotes bearing special serial numbers.
