In response to media enquiries, an ICAC spokesperson confirmed that the ICAC and the Securities and Futures Commission searched the offices of a listed company, which was involved in a corruption investigation, in a joint operation mounted last Friday (February 9).

The Chief Telecommunications Engineer of the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF), charged by the ICAC, admitted at the Eastern Magistracy today (February 12) that he had used a false document to mislead the government into granting him a downpayment loan and home financing allowances totalling over $1.9 million.

The ICAC today (Friday) hosted an exchange session for more than 50 consul generals and consuls from 45 consulates in Hong Kong, during which the visitors were briefed on the city’s probity environment as well as the Commission’s proposal to step up international cooperation by offering training assistance to overseas anti-corruption agencies.

In view of public concern and public interest involved in the case, the ICAC today (February 1) issued the following statement:

A project manager of an engineering company, charged by the ICAC, was today (February 1) sentenced to six months’ imprisonment at the Shatin Magistracy for accepting illegal rebates totalling $75,000 from a subcontractor in relation to the award of balcony flooring works at a private housing estate.

A director of a renovation company and a director of a property management company, charged by the ICAC, were today (February 1) each sentenced to four months’ imprisonment at the West Kowloon Magistracy after being convicted of respectively offering and aiding and abetting to offer bribes to secure minor works at an industrial building and a residential estate.

A job seeker, charged by the ICAC, admitted at the Eastern Magistracy today (January 31) that she had defrauded her six previous employers of employment as insurance agent or membership consultant by using false academic proofs.

Two police officers and a businessman, charged by the ICAC, were today (January 31) convicted at the District Court of conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office (MIPO) in relation to a murder case under investigation by the Police.

A former bar bender of a construction company appeared in the Shatin Magistracy today (January 24) after being charged by the ICAC with defrauding the construction company and three then bar benders of wages totalling over $572,000 and perverting public justice by requesting two of them to make false statements to the anti-corruption agency.

A former senior executive of a bank and an investor, charged by the ICAC, admitted in the Court of First Instance (CFI) today (January 22) that they had accepted and offered about $6.4 million in bribes respectively in relation to the trading of derivative warrants issued by the bank.
