The ICAC has arrested five persons, including a police constable and a supplies assistant of the Hong Kong Police (HKP), for alleged bribery in relation to theft and unauthorised sale of police uniforms and furniture.

A Police Constable, charged by the ICAC, was today (Monday) sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, at the Eastern Magistracy for loan-sharking activities and dealing with illegal proceeds.

Five persons, charged by the ICAC, were today (Friday) sentenced to various jail terms at the District Court for their roles in a fraud and bribery scam whereby the service of a courier company was misused.

Seven persons, including two former senior staff of Shanghai Land Holdings Limited (Shanghai Land) and three lawyers, charged by the ICAC, were today (Friday) sentenced to various jail terms up to 33 months for conspiring to defraud in relation to the acq uisition of imGO Limited (imGO) (later renamed as Shanghai Land).

A former teacher of a primary school, charged by the ICAC, today (Tuesday) admitted at the District Court that she had deceived over $700,000 from a number of parents in relation to applications for admission of their children to the school.

Seven serving and two former staff of the Board of Management of the Chinese Permanent Cemeteries (BMCPC) have been arrested by the ICAC for allegedly soliciting and accepting monetary advantages for allowing improper exhumation.

A former senior engineer of a subcontractor in a Highways Department (HyD) project was today (Monday) charged by the ICAC with fraud over the construction of the Castle Peak Road – New Tai Lam Section (the project).

Six persons, including a former financial controller of Shanghai Land Holdings Limited (Shanghai Land) and three lawyers, charged by the ICAC, were today (Monday) found guilty of conspiracy to defraud in relation to the acquisition of imGO Limited (imGO) (later renamed as Shanghai Land).

A member of the Kwai Tsing District Council (KTDC), charged by the ICAC, today (Monday) admitted at Tsuen Wan Magistracy that he had made false claims of reimbursement of expenses totalling over $69,000 from KTDC in relation to various activities organise d by non-profit making organisations and a mutual aid committee.

The ICAC has charged a former manager of a food trading and manufacturing company and a freelance recruitment agent with bribery in relation to the recruitment of part-time promoters.
